Closed-end blind rivets feature a mandrel head that is protected by the closed end of the rivet to prevent the seepage of liquid or gas through the set rivet.   

POP closed end rivets are used where the adjoining back-plate cannot be accessed but must be kept weatherproof.   

Closed end blind rivets also provide a greater tensile strength and shear strength than open end rivets and are often preferred for electronics applications because the mandrel cannot fall into the work area.
